The tide has turned. New Zealand’s unemployment rate is at its lowest since 2009 while Australia’s jobless rate is the highest in more than a decade. Tens of thousands of jobs were lost in Australia in 2014 and 2015 and predictions are for tens of thousands more to be lost in the resources sector over the next two years.
Kiwis are wanting to return home and Australians and expats are looking for more secure long term employment. Last year’s Perth event was the biggest of the four cities we did (Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney) – so we’re returning!
Following the success of the recent New Zealand Jobs Expos last 2014 and early 2015 in conjunction with MBIE, Working In is holding a repeat recruitment event in Perth to support New Zealand employers who are growing their businesses and seeking specialist skills. You can meet and recruit New Zealanders and Australian residents who have the skills and experience that you need now.
With a population larger than Auckland but impacted by a significant downturn in the mining industry, Perth is a perfect location to find skilled people. Western Australia is now experiencing its highest unemployment rate in over a decade and most economists predict two years of continued job losses. As of December 2014 the state had the highest unemployment rate in the country, equal with Tasmania.
The expo will present an opportunity to meet and recruit New Zealanders and expats who moved to Brisbane in the boom but are now looking for more economic stability and good employment options.
As well as running over 100 international employment events in London, Leeds and Manchester, we have successfully run events in Dublin, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Newcastle, Johannesburg and Cape Town to name a few.
Significantly we ran co-funded events with MBIE in November 2014 in Perth and Sydney with huge success for visitors and exhibitors.
The events in Australia in 2015 will follow our proven marketing plan that specifically delivers the skills that the exhibitors are seeking.
Don’t expect tyre kickers. Expect only people that match your needs and are committed and ready to move. Be prepared to offer jobs at the expo or in the days immediately after.
"It has been an extremely beneficial [Perth] expo for us and we couldn't believe the number of Kiwi's that wanted to move home" AMANDA WALLIS, CANTERBURY SKILLS AND EMPLOYMENT HUB, MARCH 2014
“We were impressed by the quality, management and professionalism of the Working In Expo team in Perth. We selected over 50 top candidates of which 15 were short listed and 3 positions have been filled. A great outcome for our organisation which exceeded our expectations.” Johnny Mauchline, EIS, MARCH 2014
